Blue Heron Vineyards has a number of products, but the most important one is WINE!

Following is a list of wine descriptions we are currently bottling. Other wines will be developed in the future to please the palettes of our customers.

Dry - Medium Dry Wines

Twin Towers Red - Cellared and Bottled by Blue Heron Vineyards, this red wine has plenty of tannin and is considered Medium Dry. The label on this wine features the image of the Indiana Cotton Mill in Cannelton, Indiana. The historic structure of native sandstone was built in 1849 and when built, was the largest industrial building west of the Alleghenies. It was Perry County’s first National Historic Landmark.

Prime 23 - An Estate-grown and produced wine from our Marechal Foch vineyard we have affectionately and appropriately named “Prime 23” referring to the Celtic Cross carved for Blue Heron Vineyards by local artist Greg Harris. The sandstone cross was carved using multiples of the prime number 23, was built in 23 months and leans approximately 23 degrees. An image of the cross is featured prominently on the front label.

23 Degrees - Also an Estate-grown wine from our “Prime 23” Foch vineyard. This wine features a slightly sweeter start than the Prime 23 mentioned above and also features our Celtic Cross as the label. It’s title refers to the lean of the Celtic Cross rock- which is amazingly close to the lean of the axis of the earth…23 degrees…coincidence? We think not!

Sweet - Medium Sweet Wines

On Deck Red - This red wine is made from local American grapes and has been sweetened to satisfiy the palettes of so many of our local customers. We believe it has a balance that appeals to many. The wine is named “On Deck Red“ as it is best when sipped while relaxing on one of Blue Heron Winery‘s decks, perched high above the banks of the Ohio River.

On Deck White - Also made from local American varietal grapes, this white wine is light and refreshing with the sweetness our customers desire. This wine if perfect for a summer afternoon “on our decks!”

Other Products

Blue Heron Sticks - Gary is the “sculptor” of the walking sticks sold in the Blue Heron businesses. Most come from the property, then he adds his personal touch, enhancing each stick’s natural beauty. Others are carved more decoratively by local craftsmen. The more decorative walking sticks boast a medallion designed by the Dauby’s and cast at the foundry in Grandview, Indiana.

Lynn's Art - Lynn Dauby is an artist as well as co-owner of Blue Heron Vineyard. She works in a variety of media, but prefers arcylics, watercolor and pastels. View her work a in the winery gift shop, or at Blue Heron Farm House one mile from the winery. Another product produced by Lynn is the Victorian-syle paintings of Santa on aged barn wood and slate from area buildings.

Blue Heron Steak Sauce - This is a favorite family steak sauce with our own private label. We provide this sauce for Rocky Point’s Waterfront Grille Restaurant near our winery. Their staff says they love it with steaks and hamburgers.

Skinner’s Salve - We are recent distributors of a product called “Skinner’s Salve“, a topical ointment that is especially good for stuffy noses, cuts, scrapes and bruises. We’ve found that it stops the itch of mosquito and tick bites as well as provides relief from poison ivy.

Local Art - Area artists and craftsmen frequently display and sell their work at Blue Heron and we are always looking for other local and regional artists to showcase. Currently we have sculptures by Greg Harris of Tell City, pottery by Nita Claise of Tell City www.nitaclaise.com and Yellowbanks Pottery of Selvin. We also feature numerous products developed in conjunction with EB Lasers.

Speaking of art, our labels have been designed by graphic artist and photographer Danny Bolin of Tell City. Look for more of his work at www.dannybolin.com
